Police reports are that at about 8:30 am the vendor, identified up to press time only as “Peter”, was in the market sorting out his goods when criminals walked up to him and opened fire. Reports are that the men then ran from the area.
Residents, after hearing the explosions, went to investigate and found the body of the vendor just metres away from his bags of onions.
The killing is the latest in the tit-for-tat gang violence that has once again escalated in the volatile West Kingston area.
The shooting came days after the son of incarcerated Tivoli don, Christopher ‘Dudus Coke, was shot at a plaza in front of the Tivoli Court during a Nomination Day march in the area last Friday.
