International recording artiste Beenie Man clearly believes that the dancehall industry cannot sit idly while the new generation of deejays flounder in Vybz Kartel’s wake and incredible output. It is time for the king to step up and reclaim his throne.

“Who say dem a run the place, nah run the place. And the man who ah run the place, caan really run the place. You have to represent musically and visually in the world of dancehall. You have to respect Addi work ethics, but him alone caan move dancehall forward. The king caan allow the general fi run the army,” Beenie Man said.

Long dubbed the King of Dancehall, the deejay has ramped up his musical output in the last six weeks, signalling his intention to be more aggressive and vocal in the dancehall industry.

Beenie Man has collaborated with American singer Jeremih and British rappers Konan and Krept for the remix of their single, Freak Of The Week. The video for the single was released in May and has already received more than six million views on YouTube.

Beenie Man also recently collaborated on Rock City with Azealia Banks and Link Up with Ty Dolla Sign and Young Jeezy, and Wonna Deez Nites with Eddie Murphy.

“Mi run the place already and mi a go dweet again,” he said.

He has a slew of new singles, such as Rule Uptown for producer Tristan Palmer, Pool Party for JA Productions, and Run Road for Jordan McClure of Chimney Records. Pool Party, released on the Life Support rhythm, has jumped into the top ten of the FiWi Choice Top ten countdown.

“It is a great look, we will be shooting a video for it next week, plus mi a get a major feedback onRule Uptown,” he said.
