Officials have reported more than 400 death so far in Haiti after Hurricane Matthew swept the country and the count is expected to rise as the search continues.

More than 30,000 homes were destroyed and over 50 people killed just in the town of Roche-a-Bateau alone.

Matthew lost some magnitude to passed over the island as a category three (3) hurricane with wind speed of up to 120 mph and is now heading for Florida.

Haiti suffered a horrible earthquake in 2010 and is said to own over 350,000 people who are now in great need of assistance after these natural disasters.

Raging flood waters and damaged bridges has hindered the search and rescue effort by officials.

Telephone service and electricity are currently down in some parts of the island and reports have been made about shortages of food and water.

Jamaica which was originally reported to get the greater impact of the then category 5 hurricane, avoided the disaster with only mild rainfall in some parishes.
