After weeks of staying quiet, Janet Jackson, 49, is finally speaking out. The pop singer took to Twitter on Jan. 6 to shed some light on the state of her health after rumors swirled that she had been forced to postpone her upcoming Unbreakable tour due to a terrifying throat cancer diagnosis. Rather than just tweet a simple message to fans though, Janet decided to address the rumors in the best way she knows now — in song form, of course! Watch her new video and get the truth about her health status here!
You can go ahead and breath a sigh of relief, because it looks like Janet is cancer-free. After being dogged by rumors that she had been forced to postpone her world tour due to a throat cancer diagnosis, the singer took to Twitter on Jan. 6 to set the record straight via a new music video. The short clip opens with her latest track “The Great Forever” — it includes such lyrics like “Sources say but where ya gettin’ it/ Don’t create the truth you like” — before sharing the good news: “I do not have cancer.”
“Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips,” a message reads at the end of the video. “The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love.”
Thank goodness! It was just one month ago that Janet broke the shocking news to her millions of fans saying, “Hey you guys…Happy holidays to each and every one of you. I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” she said on social media. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring. Every date will be rescheduled. Please hold on to your ticket. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”
“Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time,” she continued. “There will be no further comment. I love you all so much and am grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”
