Meek Mill, 28, and Nicki Minaj, 33, had a great time together at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22, but their fun night out could end up really costing Meek. His trip to Los Angeles with his lady might have been a violation of his probation, and if that’s the case, Meek will be going to jail!
A judge ordered Meek to appear in court on Dec. 10, according to TMZ, as he apparently was not granted permission to go to the AMAs. Meek has been on probation for a 2008 drug and gun conviction, and he is required to obtain a travel voucher before leaving his hometown of Philadelphia. The court documents say that this has been in place since Nov. 1, which means he should’ve gotten a voucher prior to the Nov. 22 AMAs. If the judge finds that he did indeed violate his probation, Meek’s probation could be revoked, and he could be headed to jail.
Although potential jail time is scary, it wouldn’t be the first time Meek would be locked up. He was sentenced to 3 to 6 months behind bars for violating parole in July 2014, which was for the same drug and gun conviction. The rapper also served eight months in prison in 2008, after being sentenced to 11 to 23 months.
It’s still unclear how much jail time Meek would be sentenced to this time around, but if he is going to be behind bars again, that could certainly put a strain on his relationship with Nicki. How ironic that she was involved in the potential probation violation!
