That’s one way to send a message! A man dressed as a construction worker, wielding a sledgehammer and a pickaxe, completely destroyed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump‘s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 5:45am on Wednesday, October 26. The man was so dedicated to the vandalism scheme that he set up an entire fake construction site around him!
The footage shows the man, who told our sister site Deadline that his name is Jamie Otis, hacking away at Trump’s star on the iconic Hollywood landmark. He first gouges out the name “Donald Trump”, then picks away at the plaque that indicates Trump received the star for his work in television. He continues smashing the star for good measure, until there’s barely anything left!
Jamie said that he committed the crazy act of vandalism because of the sexual assault allegations against Trump. He wanted to extract the star from the sidewalk completely, he told Deadline, then auction it off and donate the proceeds to the women who have come forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault. Wow! It appears that he wasn’t able to get the whole star out of the ground, or he didn’t have time; an LAPD police cruiser came by the scene, on Hollywood Blvd. near the Dolby Theatre, around 6:15am, and he was already gone!
This isn’t the first time Trump’s star has been vandalized during this election season. Someone spray painted a reverse swastika over it in January 2016, and in June, a mute sign. Over the summer, an artist erected a tiny wall around the star, a nod to Trump’s plan to build a wall between the United States and Mexico.
