Arif Ibrahim Tambe, whose height is only 106 centimeters, finally found his love and even started a family, in Pune, in the west of India.
“If you marry me you will have to do everything for me.”
One day Arif, who had already got used to the idea of living alone, met Ameena Ahmed, in a shop and immediately fall in love with her. 21-year-old Ameena is 61cm taller than her lover and Arif was worried she would eventually reject him when she realised the full extent of his care needs.
“You will have to take me to the toilet, to the bathroom and to the shower. I told her everything and she still agreed.”
He said: “Ameena said ‘I like you and I want to marry you’ – so I sat down and told her everything. I said ‘if you marry me you will have to do everything for me. You will have to take me to the toilet, to the bathroom and to the shower’. I told her everything and she still agreed.”
Determined not to be a burden, Arif bought an electric wheelchair, which gives him more independence
Despite Arif’s height that is only 106cm and girl’s relatives objections to the marriage, the couple got married after two years of dating. The wedding was held in their hometown of Mumbai but none of the bride’s relatives attended the ceremony. Although Ameena’s immediate family have now accepted the marriage her wider family are still distant.
Nevertheless, the unusual couple are happy especially after the arrival of their son Aseem Arif Tambe. Arif said: “I feel like God took something away and now he has given something back. I have got a reason to live my life. God has given me what I wished for.”
