A man has been taken into police custody for the fatal stabbing of his wife during a dispute on Friday morning at their home in Hanover.

The identity of the deceased has not been released by the police.

Reports are that, about 9:30 am, the couple had a dispute at their Dias, Hanover home when the husband drew a knife which he used to stab her.

She was rushed to the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea where she was pronounced dead.

The Hanover police are investigating.

This is the latest in a string of murders of women in Jamaica that has triggered a national outcry.

On Wednesday, 20-year-old Alisa Garey, a bartender of Ocho Rios, was stabbed to death by her ex-lover in broad daylight in the town. A day later, an elderly woman was hacked to death by a man of unsound mind in Trelawny.
