Jordanian pilot Muath Al-Kassasbeh has been reportedly executed in the most brutal fashion imaginable.
A 22-minute video shows the Jordanian POW clad in an orange jumpsuit, his clothes doused in flammable chemicals, locked in a metal cage, as he is lit on fire and burned alive.
The Jordanian government had been locked in intense negotiations with the Islamic State for weeks over the fate of Al-Kassasbeh.
The video was released Tuesday by the Islamist Al-Furqan group. It also shows the recitation of U.S.-lead coalition intelligence as well as Al-Kassasbeh’s horrific death.
Here’s a graphic photo capturing Al-Kassasbeh’s final moments:
Obama said the video confirms that the Islamic State’s ideology is “bankrupt.”
“It’s just one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity of this organization,” Obama said.
In response to the video, Jordan officials have announced that its government will execute all prisoners convicted of association with ISIS “within hours.”
“Jordan reportedly moved six ISIS-linked prisoners to a jail in the south of the country which is usually used for state executions. It is later understood to have confirmed that al-Rishawi’s execution is scheduled for early tomorrow morning,” the U.K. Daily Mail reports.
This latest ISIS execution video comes just days after the group released a video showing the decapitated body of captive Japanese journalist Kenji Goto.
Despite months of American fighter jets and drones dropping bombs on several keys ISIS targets in Syria, the Islamic State is still advancing and capturing swaths of territory.
