Justices of the peace (JPs) in St Ann are in shock and anger following the gruesome murder of one of their own at his house in the deep rural community of Epworth on Monday, January 2.
Dead is 81-year-old Colin Corrodus, a Justice of the Peace and businessman of Epworth in St Ann.
Reports from the Claremont Police are that about 8:15 pm, Corrodus was at home playing dominoes with a group of people, when armed men entered.
The men demanded valuables from the persons and later took Corrodus’ licensed firearm.
Before leaving, the gunmen opened fire, which caught Corrodus in the process.
The men later escaped in a waiting motorcar.
The Police were later alerted and Corrodus was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The other persons escaped unhurt from the incident.
The news has been spreading among JPs across the parish, who are upset at the slaying of a man described as being peaceful.
